— Blog —

On our way to the airport I looked around the car and realized there was, quite possibly, more hair in the car than on the dog. Crack the window and the hair swirls like small puffs of cotton candy, attaching to everything in its path. When you are wearing black trousers this is a recipe for disaster.

It's always fun to see a dog with their head out the window when you are driving. Our dogs are in heaven when the wind blows in their faces. However, with that wind comes the huge wave of fur. The task of vacuuming up all that hair can be daunting even with a seat protection sling. The fur seems to sneak under the cover and crawl into the crevices below the seats and between the seat belts.

Last weekend was spent vacuuming up a majority of that hair and it is amazing how easy it comes off our mats. Cocomats are not only designed for beauty and floor protection but they also allow the clean-up to be a breeze. While it may not be a weekly vacuum, it is nice when it only requires a small amount of effort to "de-fur" the car. Of course then there is the "de-Furing" of the clothes that isn't quite so easy!

— Blog —

February shrinks everything down.

The light is thin. The air is sharp. You get into your car and close the door and for a moment it feels like its own small world.

Winter has a way of settling in. Salt from the roads. Snow from your boots. The slow accumulation of daily use. By now you can tell what in your car was chosen carefully and what was not.

Some materials fade this time of year. Others just keep doing their job.

Natural fibers do not try to look impressive. They work. They hold their shape. They dry out. They keep the mess where it belongs. And when they are cut to fit the floor exactly, it feels intentional. Like it was always meant to be there.

February is not about big gestures. It is about attention. The small things you maintain because they matter to you. The interior you keep right, even when no one else sees it.

There is something steady about that.

We make CocoMats the way they have always been made. Woven slowly. Cut carefully. Refined at every stage. Made to feel right long after the season changes.

Some things do not need to be loud to last.

— Blog —

The New Year often brings the urge to lessen, to pare back what’s unnecessary and make space for what actually serves us. We tidy closets, clear shelves, and rethink habits. Rarely do we extend that same care to our cars, even though they’re where many of us spend a surprising amount of time.

Cars collect things easily. Gravel from last winter, sand from summer, receipts in the console, gear we meant to put away. None of it is dramatic, but together it creates a low hum of clutter. A small reset can change how a drive feels.

Sometimes lessening isn’t about removing everything, but choosing better things to keep. A well made car mat that fits properly, cleans easily, and does its job without fuss quietly supports that idea. It protects the car, hides dirt, and brings a sense of order without calling attention to itself.

As the year begins, consider simplifying the spaces you move through every day, including the one on four wheels. A calmer car can set the tone for every drive.

— Blog —

There has been much discussion about our Woven Vinyl/ Stripe material and how to showcase the many benefits it offers for your car. Today, though, I'd like to talk about how you feel when you get into your vehicle.

Cocomats often evoke feelings of nostalgia for our customers. They feel "cool and elegant," as though stepping back into the past. Woven Vinyl, on the other hand, has the power to bring your car interior to life with vibrant colors. It adds the "pop" that customizes your car and sets it apart from the thousands of others on the road.

When choosing woven vinyl, it's interesting to consider color psychology in relation to your car's interior. According to Automotive Quest, "Color psychology in interiors plays a pivotal role in shaping the aesthetic and emotional landscape of car interiors." Your color choices can create an environment that evokes feelings of calmness, excitement, or luxury, ultimately enhancing your driving experience.

Warm colors like red, orange, yellow, brown, gold, beige, amber, sienna, and terra cotta are associated with energy, positivity, and sunshine. These hues can energize your environment and may increase your energy levels. Orange fosters creativity and enthusiasm, while yellow is linked to happiness and optimism.

Cool colors, such as light blues and greens, evoke a sense of calmness and comfort. Blue is often associated with tranquility and peace, while green reminds passengers of nature and relaxation. Lighter tones of these colors create an airy feel, while darker tones imply sophistication.

Another consideration is that smooth and matte finishes, like the ones we use in woven vinyl, can enhance a calming effect, while glossy surfaces introduce a contemporary touch.

At Cocomats, we offer color options for every interior. When choosing the color of your vehicle, think about how you want to feel when you climb into the driver's seat. Do you want to step back into the past with Cocomats, or experience a whole new emotional vibe with woven vinyl?

	— Blog —

In the winter of 1903, a young woman named Mary Anderson took a trip from Alabama to New York City. During the trip, she had a hard time seeing the sights from the trolley car because of the harsh weather. Her driver had to keep both windows open and rub his hands over the windshield to remove the snow and ice. Up until this time, people did not believe that rain or snow on a windshield was a problem that could be solved. People accepted that if they chose to drive in bad weather (and who would?), they would have to intermittently stop and clean off the windshield.

Mary, being a bright entrepreneur, drew up plans for a device that could be activated from inside the car to clean the windshield. She was awarded a patent for a swinging arm with a rubber blade that could be operated by a lever from inside the car by the driver. The lever caused a spring-loaded arm to swing across the windshield and then back again to its original position. Several people had tried to create a device like this; however, Mary’s was the first to work.

In 1903, cars were still not very popular. Henry Ford’s Model T would not be manufactured until 1908, but by 1913, thousands of Americans were driving their own cars with— you guessed it—Mary's mechanical windshield wipers as standard equipment.

Now here we are, fast approaching 2025, and most of us have backup cameras, lane assist, lights that work automatically, a screen that allows us to talk and text through the car, and even a navigation system to tell us where to go or re-route us when trouble is up ahead.

All it took was someone to think outside the box—or trolley car in this case—to change everyone’s minds.
