Pedestrian or Powerhouse?

Posted

At Cocomats, our first loves will always be classic cars and the passion that drivers feel towards their favorite rides. We also give lots of love to sports cars and exotics and all of the things that make our hearts gozoom.

But what about the everyday driver? What about those cars that we love but we’re a little hesitant to show off because they might be too pedestrian? After all, our Honda Accords, Toyota Camrys, minivans, and crossovers are all a dime a dozen. But what if someone took those daily drivers, the Old Faithfuls of the common commute, and transformed them from something milquetoast to something magnificent? Well Toyota is doing just that with the 2020 Camry TRD and Avalon TRD, and these sleeper beasts are both begging for TRD-theme Cocomats.

Very few details have been revealed so far other than a plethora of pictures showing off some aggressive new body lines and premium exhaust and wheels, but given the performance nature of the TRD trucks and SUVs, we can assume that we’ll be getting some form of engine upgrade to add some extra muscle to the already impressive 301 hp of the 3.5L-V6 models. Toyota has never slouched in the power department with the TRD line, so it will be interesting to see how far they push the FWD chassis, or if they could introduce all-wheel-drive for the first time in their line of sedans.

Regardless of how the final product ends up shredding the pavement, it’s safe to say that the new models will be serious head-turners at the stoplight come late next year. Hopefully the Camry and Avalon TRDs will live up to their pedigree and blow away the competition at the starting line. Just make sure you add a nice set of Cocomats to keep your foot from slipping off the pedal when one of these unexpected beasts tries to get away from you.
