Last year, Rod Emory, one of the premiere Porsche customizers in the entire world, completed his build of the fastest 356 to ever put tire to road. Despite its appearances and its title year, it really is not a 1960 356 at all outside of the main body and major chassis components. In fact, it’s more of a Franken-Porsche, and it’s also for sale.

The Emory MOMO 356 RSR Outlaw lives up its name. Rod Emory has built his reputation on bucking the standards of Porsche purists, and he likes it that way. Every detail about the 356 Outlaw is proof of that moniker. The base car is a 1960 356B hardtop, but nearly everything about it has been fabricated or reengineered, from the frame to the suspension and most all of the engine. The suspension is courtesy of a 964 911, the brakes and calipers are Brembo, and the sway bars and dampers are custom made.

Emory describes the engine like so:

“Its concept is simple, based on the 3.6-liter dry-sump engine architecture from the Type 964. We designed an original sand-cast 4-cylinder case that incorporates the best features from three different iterations of the venerable 911 engine. We then designed a proportionally shortened camshaft housing which is machined from 6061 billet. Our custom crankshaft and camshafts mate perfectly with Porsche OEM parts. The twin-plug engine design can be configured with distributor and carburetors or crank-fire/coil-on-plug and EFI with proprietary ITBs.”

The coolest aspects, in my opinion, are the adjustable boost controllers on the dash that allow the driver to adjust from 325 to 375 hp and the open rear end that is designed to show off the inner workings of the exhaust and engine.
